Review: Benefit *Big Easy*

Hey everyone! :D
So I came across this sample as I was checking out of Sephora (been wracking up points and waiting for the right intriguing sample to try hehehe)
I decided to give this one a shot and share it with you all :)

Benefit *Better Than BB* Big Easy

What it is: (as stated on the package)
Big Easy contains ingredients known to help balance moisture & control oil. The cushiony liquid to powder formula self adjusts to your exact shade to even out skintone & conceal imperfections.

This oil-free cream to powder is very easy to apply. It blends into your skin and automatically adjusts to your skin tone. AND it has SPF 35! Here is my before & after (don’t judge. It was a blotchy day haha)

It really evened out the redness in my face as you can see in the photo and it feels and looks very smooth. I feel like it even makes my face look thinner! I’m used to using a mineral foundation on my skin so it was a little weird at first seeing my face with such full coverage, but I really like how it makes my skin look and especially after the minor touchups that I did, I feel like my skin looks flawless. Here is my makeup after just a bit of concealer, blush, brows, liner, & mascara.

This is the perfect thing to put on your face right before you go to the beach because it gives you coverage but still protects you from the harsh rays. I’m really sad that I only got a sample size of this product because I love the way it looks and feels! Even after going to the gym and wearing it all day, my face looked and felt matte and lovely :) However, CAUTION to people with dry, flakey skin! I had some oily patches and dry patches on my face and the dry parts did stand out a bit. I would recommend exfoliating and/or moisturizing prior to applying if you tend to have a dry complexion.

Overall, I love this product! It feels light on my face (not like some of those other cake-y cream to “powder” formulas), looks smooth, and evens out redness while removing that pesky oily shine. I would definitely encourage others to try it :) Get your beauty on!

Review: Dr Denese Glow Younger Bronzing Glow Drops

I’ve used other Dr Denese products before and I’ve always loved them. This product definitely intrigued me since it’s not only a bronzing serum, but anti-aging skincare as well.

20140428-114647.jpg
What is it: Glow Younger Bronzing Glow Drops are the perfect combination of a gorgeous, natural-looking, glowing self tanner delivered in an anti-aging serum. The lightweight serum imparts a summer glow and a beautifully sun-kissed complexion.

While using: These drops have a syrup-like consistency (like a, duh, serum). The scent is very light and not too chemically. It does have a slight instant tanner-y aroma. As you rub it in, it almost feels like you’re rubbing a face wash on your face without water. Then, it quickly clings to the surface of your skin. I used a couple of drops for my forehead, a couple for my cheeks and nose, and again for the rest of my face to make sure I had it all coated. When you’re waiting the 15 minutes, it feels almost like you have one of those peel-off masks on your face.

After using: All the directions say on the bottle and online are “follow with your usual skin care” or “your nightly routine”. Not sure if this means wash my face again, but I washed my face before applying… so I just moisturized after the 15 minutes were over, and my face felt hydrated and smooth. I have to admit, I took these pictures on two separate days, but I figured my face wouldn’t change that much within a couple days. Here is my before and after:

I took these with no makeup on so that you guys could get the full effect. It appears that my skin tone is definitely more even after applying the serum. I’m not sure if it’s apparent in the photos, but looking in the mirror, I can definitely see a slight tan glow on my skin. It’s recommended that you use this product each day to gradually build and maintain your tan. I have very fair skin, so it probably doesn’t show instant total bronze results on me. Overall, I’m happy with the outcome. It was easy to use, doesn’t take long to show effects, and I don’t have to sacrifice any of my normal skincare routine. And on top of that, my skin feels and looks smooth and silky! I’m feeling the glow of the amazing Dr Denese Bronzing Glow Drops :) BTW, after waking up this morning, my face felt so flawless and rejuvenated! Would definitely recommend this product and I’m looking forward to trying it on my neck and chest as well!

7 Steps to Clearer Skin

20140324-223721.jpg
We all know that when we feel like our skin is looking especially good, it makes our whole attitude better. Feel more confident and really shine by taking care of your complexion. Here are some things you may need to do to get there.

1. If you wash your face twice a day, you might be going overboard. All of us should be washing our face right before bed to get rid of all the makeup and bacteria that’s accumulated on the surface throughout the day. Unless you were rolling in dirt somehow while you were sleeping, there’s really no reason to wash your face in the morning. If you’re one to sweat a lot while you sleep, try just splashing some water on your face and then patting it dry with a clean towel.

2. Moisturize. When your face is too dry, your skin produces more oils that can clog your pores. Try a good oil-free moisturizer. I use Philosophy: Hope in a Jar.

3. Keep it clean. Always dry off with a fresh towel. After a couple of uses, that towel has collected bacteria that will be transferred back to your freshly-cleaned face/body.

4. Speaking of clean… Washing your pillow case and sheets regularly may help your skin tremendously. Making contact with the sweat and oils from your face, hair, and scalp night after night can definitely take a toll on your face. I recommend washing or switching out your pillow case at least once a week.

5. Pay attention. If you use the same products over and over and you’re still not seeing clearer results, it’s time to switch it up.

6. Exfoliate. Letting your old, dead skin cells build up on the surface of your face and body can cause irritation, flaking, and leave your skin looking dull. Use a face and/or body scrub to give your skin a more healthy, vibrant glow. I use St. Ives Apricot Scrub with Blemish Control 3 times a week.

7. Stop touching your face!
Do you ever realize how much we touch our faces? Everything we touch has germs on it. Then, as we touch other things (including the face!), we transfer those germs. Start to watch how much your hands come in contact with your face. If you’re a face-toucher, break the habit now.

I hope these tips will help your journey to clearer skin. Don’t forget, EVERYONE is different when it comes to what products will work for who. Just because your best friend or I recommend a product, doesn’t mean it will instantly solve your problems. Try out your options and find what’s right for you!
