Review: Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask

Happy Tuesday, lovelies! It’s gorgeous outside in SoCal :) soaking it up until the rain comes this weekend.

This is my first review in a while! I guess I haven’t been inclined to post one in a bit because I haven’t come across a new product that I fell in love with or totally hated. I’m going to try to post more on here! Promise! There are new and exciting things happening beyond Let’s Talk Pretty, and I’ll be sharing them with you all soon enough ;)

About the product:

This mask is free of any parabens, sulfates, and phthalates (whatever that is). This product is made with active charcoal and white China clay (so fancy). I have been using Origins Night-a-mins oil-free moisturizer and enjoy it, so I thought I’d give one of their masks a try. They have tons of masks to choose from, but the pore-cleansing charcoal mask stood out to me. As something with sensitive and temperamental skin, I wanted to make sure that it wouldn’t make my skin freak out. With over 2000 reviews and 4.5 out of 5 stars on Sephora, I thought it would be a good choice.

The process:

The instructions on the container say to cleanse your face and then open up your pores with a warm towel prior to applying the mask. I took the lazy route and just splashed my face with warm water after cleansing and sort of held my warm palms against my face for a couple seconds at a time. Then I dabbed my face dry with a towel before applying.

The instructions then say to layer on the mask, let dry, then rinse off. They do not give you an amount of minutes you should have the mask on. I suppose it would depend on how thick you applied the mask. I applied the mask with one layer and then touched it up with another layer. With clay masks, you don’t want to leave them on too long because they will start to draw out the natural oils in your skin. When it had fully dried (it was VERY tight & I couldn’t move my face at all), I rinsed it with warm water and patted dry.

After drying my face, my pores felt so tight (in a good way!).. My face had a very nice glow and my skin was squeaky clean and shiny! I applied my usual moisturizer afterwards. This morning, it seems that my my face is still feeling refreshed and my acne marks have reduced a lot. This mask is great too if you’re trying to dry up a pimple!

In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this product! Like I said before, I have sensitive skin and it still worked amazing for me because it has natural clay ingredients. I found mine on (because I love getting the samples), but they also have the product on the Origins website :)

Thank you all so much for reading! Tell me about another mask you really enjoyed in the comments!

Take care everyone! Xoxo

Review: GlamGlow SuperMud

Hey beauty people!

Hope you all had an amazing weekend. The last few days have been crazy, but awesome :)

Getting back on track today, I decided to share with you my experience with GlamGlow SuperMud Clearing Treatment.

I’ve been seeing reviews and whatnot about this product for a while and it intrigued me to the point where I just had to try it! This usually retails for $69 at Sephora for the 1.2oz size. Since it’s quite expensive (ridiculous actually), I searched for a good deal on EBay. (Can you tell I like EBay? lol) I ended up finding these two .3oz containers for $24.99. Still steep for the size, but that was the best I could do. Let’s move forward to the experience I had, shall we?

Here was my face freshly washed before application. I have a couple scars/imperfections at the moment that I’m hoping to eliminate soon. That’s another reason I was so excited to try this product.

Here’s what the product looks like on my face:

This product has a kind of dull, chalky, minty smell. Hard to explain. Not a bad smell tho, which is good. The consistency is sort of a mixture of smooth & grainy. It has small bits of flaky coal or something in it. I know, this all sounds so scientific :)
What’s interesting (and kind of gross) is that as you have it on, you can start to see the mask absorbing the oil from your pores. You’re only supposed to put a THIN layer on your face. The back if the container actually has “THIN” in all caps. Basically, my T-zone looked super speckled and nasty.. but I guess that shows that it’s literally drawing the oils and dirt from your pores. I took no picture of this haha

Here are some shots of my skin after removing the mask:

You probably have the same reaction as I did. Nothing changed. My skin felt soft, but it also felt soft before the mask. It did feel like my pores had been cleansed and tightened tho. Maybe we should try a side-by-side comparison.

I’m not using the same pictures twice, promise haha I guess I was semi-disappointed with this product. I mean, given that I don’t have crazy unruly skin, maybe the change just isn’t that drastic for me. Or maybe if I used this every once in a while, not just once, I would see more of a difference. My face does feel a tad more glowing. I will say that. Overall tho, I’m not blown away. Will definitely not purchase again for the price that this product is. There are also some other branches of this mask such as ThirstyMud & YoungMud.

Have any of you tried this product or another type from this line? Let me know! I love hearing from you!

Til next time, gorgeous!

PS. UPDATE!!! This made me break out :'(

OOTD & Beauty Reviews!

Sooo I usually only do one product review or ootd at once, but I’m so jazzed about it all that I just can’t wait!

Let’s start with today’s ensemble :)
I’m a big fan of wearing comfy & casual clothing, but dressing it up. One of my favorite things to do lately is wear a loose-fitting, super soft top with my skinny jeans. Top it off with some awesome jewelry, and you have a stylish outfit!
Here’s what I put together…

Top, necklace, & earrings – Forever 21
Jeans – PacSun
Ring – Nordstrom
I’m also wearing some black gladiator sandals with gold accents that I didn’t get a picture of because I need a pedicure hehe
Btw I love this top! It’s so amazingly soft & comfy!

Now on to the makeup reviews!

The first product I would like to talk about is my new MAC lipstick. I have never owned a MAC lipstick before, but I was feeling daring & wanted to treat myself :) I wanted a shade that I could use for every occasion, and I FOUND IT! It’s called “Grande Dame” and it has a rosey pink, very feminine, but not crazy bright or dark color. I think this is the absolute perfect lip shade for me.

This lipstick also feels AMAZING on. Very silky & moisturizing. Not sticky or chalky at all. And I MUST mention the fact that the tube has a magnetic closure. Do all the MAC lipsticks have this?? Love it.

For my second & last product of the day (which I’m so excited about) I have Too Faced’s Chocolate Soleil bronzer. I was in Sephora, bought an eyeliner, had enough Beauty Insider points to get a delux sample, so I chose this one because I knew it was new. (And why not?!)
I was very impressed with this product. First of all, it smells like cocoa! This is of course because it’s infused with cocoa powder. SAY WHAT?! …yep. Pretty awesome. Love the shade & texture. Felt almost creamy when I put it on…. but not? It’s just very smooth haha A must-try!

Here’s a close-up of both of the products together…

That’s all for today!! Hope all of you lovelies enjoyed :) Until tomorrow.. Have a great day!

Review: BECCA Blush

First of all, SO sorry for not posting in a little while! I’m here with a wonderful new product to review for all you lovelies!

BECCA Mineral Blush – Sweetpea

The color looks different at different angles/lighting, but I ASSURE you, it’s the same blush. I did not use any filters on these photos either.

Let me just tell you all.. I have been so hungry for new products lately, it’s crazy. Maybe it’s because I want to blog about them.. Maybe because I’m getting more obsessed with makeup.. I’m not sure, but I’m going to be posting MORE great product reviews SOON!

Anyways, so I found out about this product from a fellow blogger’s review. I was slightly disappointed because I never got to see the product on a face, so I was still so curious about it. This product retails for $32 at Sephora. First of all, whenever I see products that are expensive like this, I consider it a challenge to find the best deal possible. I ended buying it on EBay for $17. Hell yea!
This blush is described as “rosy plum nude”. It looked darker than I thought it would be at first. It’s definitely a nice, warm blush. Perfect for summer. It has a bit of shimmer, which I like because I feel that it accentuates the shape of the cheek better than a matte blush.
Here is how it looked on me…
Ignore my work shirt please :)
When I first put it on, I thought this shade may be too dark.. but it ended up looking really sultry & giving my face great shape. For a highlighter, I used Smashbox Fusion Soft Lights in Chic Copper on the most prominent points of my cheekbones. This topped off my summery, glowing look.

I absolutely love this blush! The pigment is awesome, the shimmer is not too much.. I can see myself getting more of these blushes in the future. I felt, however, that it was hard to find other shades on EBay. Luckily, I really like this one.

Keep in mind that you really have to know where to look & what to look for when searching online, so be cautious. Make sure you read descriptions carefully, pay attention to how legit photos are, & read the reviews on the sellers.

If any of you have any questions, feel free to ask. If you have used this blush, tell me what you think!

Have a great day, beauty-goers!

Perfectly Posh Sample-fest | Part 1

Hello lovelies!
Yesterday, I received a nifty little package full of Perfectly Posh samples that I can try out just for all of you!!

I got SO many that I can’t possibly review them all at once. So here’s Part 1 of my sample-fest from Perfectly Posh :)

So, I naturally went straight for whatever I could put on my lips. My first sample is called Make-out Magic. Intrigued? You should be.
Make-out Magic is a sugar lip scrub that smells fantastic. Almost like Orange Julius. You simply put a dab on your lips & then rub your lips together or massage your lips with your finger. It seriously has sugar in it, so you can just lick it off when you’re done or wipe it off with a tissue like I did (even tho it really was tasty). And BOOM! Soft lips, ready for the kissin’.

The next sample I picked up was for my hair. It’s called Stare At My Hair Argan Oil Smoothing Hair Serum with Anti-Frizz. Not sure if that is ALL in the actual name… That’s just what it says on the packaging. Looking at my hair, I thought it could use some nourishment. I had never used an Argan Oil before, but I really liked this one. The smell gives off a high-end, salon professional-ish scent. I really enjoyed that. It definitely smoothed my hair nicely, tamed my frizz, & left my hair shiny & soft. I only wish I had more of it!! Here’s a before & after:

I didn’t put any filters on this image so you can get the full effect. My hair is sleeker, the waves are more defined, & it looks healthier overall.

If you would like to buy any of these products or check out what else Perfectly Posh has to offer (which is a lot), follow this link. My Posh consultant, Brandie, really makes you feel special & puts some TLC in every package.

Enjoy until Part 2!!
