Style Resolutions | 2017

Hello lovelies!

First off, Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays! Mine was pretty low key, but it was so nice having some vacation time during the holiday season for once.. #RetailLife

I know that today is Street Fashion Friday, but I have a whole new post for all of you that I wanted to share this week.

Have you ever began a new year and/or new chapter of your life & felt like you needed to spruce up your style? Even if you just wanted to improve one tiny aspect of your wardrobe? That’s what I want to talk about in today’s post. My style resolutions for 2017.

#1 – Pump Up the Color

If you follow me on Instagram, you get to see my everyday outfit picks. My go-to colors tend to be black, white, gray, & denim/chambray. I don’t really take advantage of all the gorgeous hues I could be experimenting with! We all love our nuetrals & basics because they go with everything.. but now it’s time to add some more of the “everything”. I made a collage of some pieces I loved that would definitely brighten up my day to day outfits.

(Dorthy Perkins Clutch $17, Wet Seal iPhone Cover, Boohoo Choker $5, Net-A-Porter Beanie $56, Billabong Tank $23, Romwe.com Sweatshirt $10, Miss Selfridge Denim Shorts $23, Yoins.com Boots $54)

There are tons of lovely color trends coming out this year as well as artistic patterns. Not sure which ones are going to be standing out? Here are the 2017 Pantone Colors of the Year:

Spring/Summer

Fall/Winter

If you want to add more color to your style, I suggest figuring out whether you’re a Spring, Summer, Autumn, or Winter. Your season will depend on your skin tone, hair, & eye color. When you wear the right colors for your season, your skin will look more radiant, your teeth whiter, your eyes brighter, & you’ll feel more confident. #2 – Brand Less, Save More

I know I’m not the only person who has gotten sucked into buying something because it had a name brand. People (especially in the fashion industry) tend to feel the need to represent big brands because they show prestige & are well known. However, this doesn’t help the growth of smaller companies that could have phenomenal potential & quality products.

It will take some trial & error, but there are plenty of fantastic brands out there that offer beautiful garments at a fraction of the name brand prices. I won’t have the name to show off, but I will be saving some serious moolah while supporting smaller companies. My last purse was from Tshirts and Jeans. Never heard of them? I’ve gotten more compliments on that purse than any other name brand I’ve owned & at a third of the cost.

Let the brand exploration begin! Saving money is a huge goal in general this year for me.

#3 – Get Floral

Some mega trends carrying into this year & this Spring specifically are florals & embroidery. I have been pretty darn sporty, comfy, & casual the passed couple months, so I wouldn’t mind spreading some feminine flare across my wardrobe. Lately, I’ve seen some pretty floral patterns incorporated into urban style. This is the perfect combination of comfort & trend with a touch of femininity. I’ve found some examples of what would blend nicely into my current style..

(Withchic.com Embroidered Scarf $17, SheIn Crop Sweatshirt $14, Accessorize Watch $35, Kate Spade Wallet $78, Lane Crawford Bikini Top $150)
I realize some of those last items are a little on the pricey side, but we have to splurge on some things.. am I right?! The denim shorts in my first collage would also fall under the floral category for a great price.

Well, everyone, those are my main style resolutions for 2017. I would loveΒ to hear your thoughts on this post in the comments below. Also, share one of your own style resolutions with me! Fashion will always repeat itself, but our personal style is ever-evolving.

Thank you all so much for reading & Until next time xoxo
